Why is it when the ice cream man comes, my dog starts to howl?

(a)First the song comes... then the man turns around the corner and passes by my house. That second my dog starts to howl and then all the dogs in the neighbourhood howls.


(b) some ppl say that dogs howl when they see spirits (mumbo-jumbo)





can u answer both of these questions?Why is it when the ice cream man comes, my dog starts to howl?
High pitched noises hurt their ears and they howl to drown it out. My dog howls when my alarm goes off or when a police car drives by.


Dogs also howl for communication so if they hear one they respond, plus they may all be hearing the ice cream truck.


I think dogs may be sensitive to spirits, but I don't think it makes them howl.Why is it when the ice cream man comes, my dog starts to howl?

Well I suppose part B could be true - how could we know? Anyway about part A - it's probably something to do with the noise. A lot of dogs will howl to someone singing or playing a piano, and my aunt has a dog who will howl at police/firetruck/ambulance sirens (for at least 10 minutes after we stop hearing them...crazy adorable mutt :P) It can be sort of annoying, I understand, but some dogs just react that way to noise/music - not sure why, though, or if there's something you can do...good luck
They dont like the sound,it hurts their ears. Just like sirens.





and yes, I believe dogs can sense the energy of spirits when we cant. Dog senses are alot more fine tuned then ours.
There may be some sound in the recording that the ice cream man plays that the dog hears and makes him want to howl. I think it sorta cute!
