How to sneak ice cream into a movie theatre?

My best best friend's bday is tomorrow, and we want to sneak her favorite ice cream into the movie theatre so she can eat it while watching a movie. but we're not sure how to do it with out it melting and getting a mess. How to sneak ice cream into a movie theatre?
Becca,

Put it in a solid plastic cup, but only about half full. Put it in a deepfreeze so that it will be very frozen (more than the refrigerator's freezer). Take it to the movie in a cooler. Wear cargo style pants with the cup in the pocket by your leg or in your purse but inside a gallon sized ziplock bag, sitting upright.

This is quite doable. Shouldn't be a mess either. Don't forget a spoon!

-Kevin

ps. when I say a solid cup, I mean something really sturdy. You can get strong but cheap plastic cups instead of disposable.

How to thicken whipping cream?

im gonna use whipping cream filling in dates for a party. but its too thin to fill in. i whipped it a lot still its not holding its shape. Also, i dont want it to be sweetened so im not using sugar or anything with it (dates are very sweet). i want its consistency like cake icing...any tips?????????? thanx in advance:)How to thicken whipping cream?
Use a large, clean bowl and a balloon whisk as the air makes the cream 'whippy'. Don't over whisk or it will become liquid again. Stop as soon as soft peaks begin to form - basically, if you pull the whisk out of the bowl, the cream will peak up with the whisk. Cream should be freshly whipped - it should be whipped and used to fill the dates as soon before the party as is possible to stop it from going liquid again. How to thicken whipping cream?
You've either not whipped it enough, or you've whipped it past the butter stage and it's become liquid again.

A lot of people don't whip cream long enough. I suspect you need to need to whip it longer than you did.
whipping cream will only maintain a consistency like the whipped cream you get in a bottle.

If you are looking for something thicker, I would just make an icing without the sugar maybe?
whip more powder with less milk (or whatever liquid ur using) :)
Use creamed cheese instead.
Try beating egg whites until they're really thick, and mix it in?
freeze it.

use tomato with vineager with honey.some laksa herd.mixed them all up in a mixer.cook for 20min.that is one wonderful pasta sauce.singapore version. How to make low fat pasta sauce, or at least without cream...?
melt 1 Tbsp butter in 1 Tbsp. EVOO, add a bit of garlic, before it turns brown, add salt and squeeze a lemon half into it. Toss w/ pasta.

    Tomato sauce is lowfat.

    Mushroom Walnut Sauce for Pasta

2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

    8 oz. Mushrooms - sliced

    1/4 C. Walnuts - chopped

    3/4 C. Heavy whipping cream

    1/4 tsp. Black pepper

    1/2 C. Fresh Parmesan - grated

Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Saute mushrooms and walnuts until mushrooms are golden. Add cream and cook stirring frequently for 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Turn heat to warm and when cream stops simmering, add pepper and Parmesan and stir until sauce is smooth. Do not boil. Serve over pasta. Especially good w/ stuffed pastas.

--copykat.comHow to make low fat pasta sauce, or at least without cream...?
There are tons of ideas for low-fat pasta dishes:

    1. Toss linguini with sundried tomatos, fresh basil and shaved parmesan cheese.

    2. To diced tomatos add a little olive oil, balsamic vinagrette, fresh basil, oregano, and rosemary, simmer until thickened, add 1/2 cup fat free half and half and grated parmesan cheese.

    3. Make a meat sauce from lean turkey Italian sausage sauteed with onion and minced garlic. Drain. Add low sodium and low fat tomato sauce and 3 T olive oil. Add 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil and 2 T dried Italian herbs. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer for 30 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Toss with your favorite whole grain pasta and add parmesan or asiago cheese.

    4. Toss hot linguini with marinate artichokes (rough chop), diced fresh tomatos, and lean turkey kielbasa. Top with shaved parmesan.
Any pasta sauce that I have made is low fat and never contains milk products of any kind.

    I start with

1 medium chopped Spanish onion fried in 2 tbsp of olive oil.

    add 4-5 sliced mushrooms

when ready pour into pan 1 can of Primo style tomatoes of your choice, there are many.

Add some spices or herbs. such as

    3/4 tsp garlic powder

    1/2 tsp salt

    1/4 tsp pepper

To make your sauce hot/spicy, you can add a 1 or 2 drops of Tabasco sauce

1 tbsp honey-takes away the zippy/acidity tomato taste

    let simmer for 15 minutes

1 tbsp mixed Italian spice or oregano.

There you have a very low fat pasta sauce and tastes good too.

What is the difference between gelati and ice-cream?

Gelato has more butter fat than ice cream. What is the difference between gelati and ice-cream?
    Gelato is increasingly gaining popularity in America, but do you really know what the difference is between gelato and ice cream? The first thing you need to know is that gelato is the plural form of gelati -which is Italian ice cream - and it means ';frozen.';

Gelato originated in northern Italy in the 1500s and the sale of gelato was one of the major sources of income for the area; so at one point in history, only royalty could afford gelato. Like ice cream, gelato is made with milk and sugar, but it has less than 35% air which makes the flavors more intense than traditional ice cream while still allowing it to be creamy. But the big difference is that the milk used in gelato is not homogenized, so that allows the gelato to melt much more quickly than ice cream. The basic ingredients of gelato are milk, cream, eggs, sugar, and natural fresh flavors (like fruit, cocoa, nuts, or vanilla.)What is the difference between gelati and ice-cream?
Well not much, as they can be interprated differently.

But gelati is the plural word for icecream in Italian.

    Gelato is the singluar.

From what I understand, around me anyway, gelati tends to be more fruit based, whereas icecream is more dairy based.
generally gelati is water based and icecream is dairy based. but gelati is being made with cream/milk these days.
Gelato is a bit more 'icy' in my opinion. Ice cream is a bit creamier. Gelato has more fruit-based flavors as well, while ice cream is like butter-pecan, etc. I like gelato better! :]
gelati is the italian term for ice cream so there isnt a real difference, but i think that gelati is better
I take italian classes but gelati is ice cream but thats how you say it in italian :P

Every day I crave sweets, especialy ice-cream. What can I do to stop the craving? How can I prevent myself from eating ice-cream?
you can try avoiding it or spending your time doing something. U could also do it gradually. Give yourself a limit and slowly decrease it. Maybe start at 5 scoops or watever you eat now. Then lower it by one. wen ur used to that lower it by one again. It won't seem like a big drop and b4 u kno it u wont crave it as much. Or u could just get healthy versions like lowfat frozen yogurt, its very similar 2 ice cream. Or you could eat fruit wenever you feel like sweets, maybe strawberries dipped in sugar or something. or u could just try 2 stop. Or you could put all your extra money away so you just can't buy it no matter how bad u want it. If none of those things work then idk wat you can do but 1 of them shudHow can I prevent myself from eating ice-cream?

Think incremental: decrease your intake of ice cream and other sweets a little every day. Do something, like walking, a little more every day. Have a long term goal, say six months.

Also, keep in mind that sugars deplete oxygen in the body and this WILL cause not only overweight but also many other diseases.

What can I add to meringues instead of cream tartar, to peak the whites?

a pinch of salt and a tiny squeeze of lemon juice, about 1/2 a teaspoon always works for meWhat can I add to meringues instead of cream tartar, to peak the whites?
You don鈥檛 need to have cream of tartar to make meringues. Sugar and clean egg whites work very well.

Cream of tartar is an acid; you can substitute white vinegar or lemon juice in the ratio of 3 parts vinegar to 1 part cream of tartar. The problem with this substitution is that vinegar and lemon juice are liquids and that may effect the recipe. Liquid is not a problem with meringues. What can I add to meringues instead of cream tartar, to peak the whites?
Dry egg whites (follow the measurements on the can. but as jnower said you don't really need anything but egg whites and sugar.

but if you do use dry egg whites be sure to mix the dry egg whites and sugar together.
    nothing
Meringues don't require cream of tartar. All it needs is egg white and sugar:

    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Authentic-F鈥?/a>

But if you are concerned you can add white vinegar or lemon juice:

    http://allrecipes.com/HowTo/Perfect-Meri鈥?/a>

    ';Basic Meringue

    Cream of tartar, white vinegar, or lemon juice can all be used to stabilize a meringue. Add 1/8 teaspoon of cream of tartar per egg white to the unbeaten eggs. (If you're using a copper bowl to make your meringue, don't add any acid: it can react with the copper and discolor the egg foam.) Whip to medium-soft peaks. Beat in 2 tablespoons white sugar per egg white. Continue to beat until egg whites are glossy and hold a firm peak. Adding sugar early in the beating process results in a firmer, finer-textured meringue.';
    whipped cream?

Is there a secret to making homemade whip cream for my pumpkin pie?

Basically, its simple. Just Heavy Whipping Cream and Confectioners Sugar. Whip it until it stands up on it's own in 'peaks'. (whip it too far and it turns into butter).

    Secrets.

    1) COLD. Homemade whip cream doesn't last very long. the colder it stays, the longer it will stay 'whipped'. This can be assisted using a Cold, METAL bowl to whip/store it in and Cold beaters for the mixer. You can put both in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes before making it. Keep it in the fridge if it's not being used.

    2) Flavors. You can really put anything in it to add a little flavor... A teaspoon of vanilla extract, a teaspoon of grenadine, some shaved chocolate, etc... since you're using it for pumpkin pie, maybe add some nutmeg and/or cinnamon. Is there a secret to making homemade whip cream for my pumpkin pie?
Homemade whipped cream leaves the canned, and god forbid, bucket stuff in the dust (being actually whipped and cream), and takes less than five minutes to make. The trick: a cold bowl, clean beaters, and a ratio of about 1 cup of heavy cream to 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar, whipped until it holds soft peaks. Start low, so you don鈥檛 splash yourself when it is still liquid. Add a splash of flavoring (vanilla, almond or a liqueur) at the end for extra awesomeness.

Is there a secret to making homemade whip cream for my pumpkin pie?
Here is a whip cream recipe that i use all the time

    INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

    1 cup heavy cream

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

    DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks are just about to form. Beat in vanilla and sugar until peaks form. Make sure not to over-beat, cream will then become lumpy and butter-like.

    hope this helps!
    easy:

this is an all natural way

take heavy cream and a clean jar

shake it for a long time, about 20 min hard.

in time, it will be somewhat less liquidey.

    This is whipped cream.

If you keep going, it will be butter.

SO MAKE THE HOME-MADE, ALL NATURAL CHOICE.
Whipped cream is just that... literally, just cream that's been whipped with a mixer at a very high speed. One ingredient, and about five minutes of mixing.

i don't use that but i wuld use fingers. i use my fingers for foundation for the purpose listed above...cleanliness.
Use your fingers and blend blend blend.
I rarely use it, but when I do I use my fingers. Actually using your fingers instead of sponges is much better for your skin, since sponges pick up impurities on your skin and then can redeposit it back on your face later and cause breakouts. Even if your skin is usually clear, I wouldn't recommend a sponge. Hope this helps!
You can buy the cosmetic sponges which is probably the neatest thing to do. However, using your hands will warm the cream and make it easier to put on and blend. I personally would use my hands.

Is it okay to use a yeast infection cream while I have my period?

I recently received a yeast infection cream from my doctor but I have my period next week and I don't know if I should wait until after I finish having my period or not.Is it okay to use a yeast infection cream while I have my period?
Using a yeast infection cream while you have your period is just fine. The sooner you clear up the infection, the better, really. Just be sure to use pads instead of tampons. Is it okay to use a yeast infection cream while I have my period?
There is no problem using a yeast infection cream your period.
With the yeast cream called Terazole I found out (when I used it for a yeast infection) from the insert with the medication that it is ok to use the product during the menstrual period. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
    eewww !!
With yeast infections I think the sooner you start treatment the better, you wouldn't want to spend a whole week itching like crazy or have it get to the point where the area actually hurts. There is no reason why you cant use it while you have your period, obviously it would be easier when you don't have your period, but the treatment will work just fine.
It shouldn't make any difference whether you are on your period or not, it's fine to used at the same time. If you feel more comfortable waiting a few days then that also should be fine.
I think it should be okay, but if I were you I would wait just in case. After all, it's only for about a week.

    Is cream cheese real cheese?

I know it originates from French nuefchetel, but is it technically considered cheese? Is cream cheese real cheese?
    yes

Cream cheese is a soft, mild-tasting, white cheese that contains at least 33% milkfat (as marketed) with a moisture content of not more than 55%, and a pH range of 4.4 to 4.9. [1] It is sold in brick form or in a small, tub-like container. Variety brands add such additional seasonings as garlic, dill, and olives. Cream cheese differs from other cheese in that it is not allowed time to mature and is meant to be consumed fresh. It is a primary ingredient in cheesecake and other desserts, and is often spread on bagels and eaten with lox (smoked salmon). On bagels, cream cheese is sometimes referred to by the Yiddish word schmear. Is cream cheese real cheese?
    NO!!!!!!!!
Yes it is a dairy product deriving from cream, which makes it cheese.
It's ';cheese'; in the same sense as Ricotta, Mozarella, and queso fesco are considered ';cheese';. They haven't fermented, but they have formed into solids and there's not a better category to lump them into for cooking purposes.

Would a purist consider it to be in the same class as a beautiful Roguefort? No...but then they would probably have a problem with Velveeta, too.

Regardless of how you classify it, it's still delicious and makes a phenomenal dessert.
    No its not

its a yogurt based dairy product produced by skimming the cream off of the milk. its not aged like cheese is, as we know it.
    i think so

How much is 1 american cup of ice-cream in Grams??

1 cup = 110 gramsHow much is 1 american cup of ice-cream in Grams??
One American cup is 8 oz. There are 28.35 grams in one ounce, so the answer is 226.8 grams. How much is 1 american cup of ice-cream in Grams??
I american cup has no relationship whatsoever with grams. Cups are a measure of volume, whereas grams are a measure of mass. Asking how many mLs are in an American cup would be appropriate. The answer is that there are about 237 mLs in one American cup. One would have to know the material being measured and it's density to get the relationship b/w cups and grams.

Oh yeah, and skpicky, grams are NOT a measure of weight. They are a measure of MASS. Weight DOES change, mass is constant.
There really is no good answer to this question. A cup is a measure of volume, and a gram is a measure of weight. The weight of some things does not vary, but ';ice cream'; does not always weigh the same.

For instance, if you buy the ';store brand'; ice cream, it will weigh less than say, Ben and Jerry's (premium) ice cream. The regular brand has more air whipped into it, so it weighs less per volume.
It is a guessing game. All ice creams have diferent weights even with the same volume.

You need to convert volume for volume, and weight for weight.

A cup which is volume, converts to 237ml. 1 cup in volume is 8 fluid ounces in America.

The only thing that I can guarantee weighs 8 ounce when measured to 1 cup is water, which converts to227 grams.

Is there a non dairy substitute for heavy cream?

just curious, because i've been having a problem with dairy lately, so i want to get used to non-dairy items. Is there a non dairy substitute for heavy cream?
It depends on what you're using it for.

Whipped cream, you could use egg whites I suppose.

But cooking-wise, theres not much of a substitute so far as I know...hmmmm...

Best I can tell you is, if you're lactose intolerant (if your stomach wants to kill you for drinking a glass of milk), cooking will caramalize or burn almost all of the lactose in any dairy, so in cooked dishes you should be alright.

If you're looking for the whipped cream on cake or such, then I would go with a royal icing:

  • What can I add to meringues instead of cream tartar, to eak the whites?

If you are beating eggs whites and don't have cream of tartar, you can substitute white vinegar (in the same ratio as cream of tartar, generally 1/8 teaspoon per egg white). It is a little more problematic to find a substitute for cream of tartar in baking projects. White vinegar or lemon juice, in the ratio of 3 times the amount of cream of tartar called for, will provide the right amount of acid for most recipes. But that amount of liquid may cause other problems in the recipe, and bakers have found that cakes made with vinegar or lemon juice have a coarser grain and are more prone to shrinking than those made with cream of tartar.

Is it safe/allowed to check in whipped cream chargers with my luggage?

No, compressed gas containers may not be taken on a plane. They may be shipped by ground carrier (such as UPS Ground or FedEx Ground).

You must declare your hazardous materials to the airline, air package carrier, or U.S. Postal Service. Violators of Federal

Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR parts 171-180) may be subject to a civil penalty of up to $50,000 for each violation and, in appropriate cases, a criminal penalty of up to $500,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 5 years. Is it safe/allowed to check in whipped cream chargers with my luggage?
The last answer was based on FAA Hazmat restrictions; TSA restrictions are broader, and also prohibit any compressed air cylinders of any size, except for very limited purposes, such as for powering prosthetic limbs or when transporting self-inflating life vests, or when empty, with no seal or valve. The issue is not the lower air pressure at height, but simply pressurized material period, which presents an explosion hazard anywhere there is a great pressure differential. Is it safe/allowed to check in whipped cream chargers with my luggage?

What cream to use best for black under arms?

my sis is 23. she used a lot of cream to prevent black underarms but it still doesnt work out. what u think that is reaally effective for her to use accrdng to her age.thank you! What cream to use best for black under arms?
try coco butter with baking soda and elmers glueWhat cream to use best for black under arms?
If she shaves her underarms, she should stop shaving them and start waxing.

She can also get a pumice stone and rub her underarms with it everyday in the shower. It'll get rid of some of the dead skin in there and clean it up a little.

I've also heard that applying lemon helps, too.

Seems a bit weird to me, but hey.. Don't knock it until you try it.

Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?

I just made nachos and noticed. Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?
Cos it gets sour after that date, hehehe! Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?
Like all Dairy (milk, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese etc.) products they have a short shelf life!

Bacillus cereus (spoils milk %26amp; cream) are also responsible for causing foodborne illness. Most foods are subject to bacterial growth.
uhhh the word sour in sour cream has NOHING to do with it being sour lol... XP
because u dont want to eat raw stuff do ya!
Because the name sour is not because it is spoiled cream but because of the flavor, it is a milk product and therefore can still spoil and be dangerous to your health
Sour cream, like all other dairy products, will/can go bad if around for too long, and will make you sick if you eat it past the expiration date the same way milk and yogurt does.
it will go bad if out for too long, like other dairy products

  • Good cream to get rid of\cover up these marks on my chest?

I'm not really sure what these marks on my chest are but I've gotten them recently. Ever since my chest started getting a little bigger they started appearing. They're like, purplish or redish and theyre not really lines, just marks. I'm not sure if it's stretch marks or from wearing bras that were too tight for a long period of time but they look painful and freaky- although they're not.

Is there any type of cream or anything that will cover it up? Or get rid of it possibly? %26amp; are they stretch marks or was it from my bra?

Thanks!Good cream to get rid of\cover up these marks on my chest?
You can easily find out if it is your bra. Go to Victoria's Secret and ask the sales lady to measure you for proper bra size. They do a great job and will even give you a box of bras in your correct size to try on. Also, it is not embarrasing because they are all women and they measure over your clothes (make sure you are wearing a t-shirt, not a bulky sweatshirt or something).

But, if they are really red/purple and they are there regardless of whether you wear your bra or not (like, first thing in the morning after not wearing your bra all night) then it sounds like stretch marks. Stretch marks are a combination of rapid growth and hormonal changes. That is why it is common to get them during puberty (for men and women) and also during pregnancy (for women).

If they are stretch marks, be happy to know that with time they will fade to your original skin tone (or if you are very dark skinned, they may fade a slightly lighter shade than your original skin tone). The only thing you will see then is a little bit of a change in skin texture between the mark and your normal skin. There is nothing that you can to ';get rid of'; them once you get it. Sorry. I wish I could get rid of mine too, but my Dr. and many others say it isn't possible.

However, I've found that Burt's Bees Repair Serum really has helped to improve the texture of my stretch marks and I also use it for the delicate skin around my eyes and laugh lines (this is what it is really for, but I tried it for my stretch marks and really thought it was great). The other nice thing is that Burt's Bees is natural and not full of nasty chemicals.

As far as covering up the marks while they are discolored... I think that mineral makeup (i.d. bare essentuals etc) works better and looks more natural than liquid foundation. I used a mineral concealer powder and a mineral foundation powder.

BTW, use the Repair Serum at night only, and use the makeup in the day only (if you apply the mineral makeup over really oily/moisturized skin it will be clumpy and not look nice).

Time heals, be patient. Good Luck!!!Good cream to get rid of\cover up these marks on my chest?
They are only stretch marks if your chest has grown from gaining weight.

Try any massage oil and massage gently but firmly a few minutes daily.

And, get fitted for a proper bra!

The wrong bra can also cause back problems.

You can use cover up until your massage efforts and plenty of room for the boobies have made the marks disappear.

If i save the calories to eat ice cream, can i have it everyday without getting fat?

i loveee ice cream, but if i dont eat a lot during the day, can i have a bit every day with out getting fat?If i save the calories to eat ice cream, can i have it everyday without getting fat?
Let鈥檚 say a small ice cream cone is 200 calories.

Let鈥檚 also say your maintenance level of calories (see source for more info) is 2000.

If you eat 1800 plus the ice cream cone, you should be ok in terms of not getting fat.

However, I will points out a few extra cautions:

    1) Ice cream is not really all that nutritious, isn鈥檛 good for building muscle, and has a lot of sugar. (Eating lots of ice cream in the long run can make you lose muscle and gain fat in the same amount...so your weight would be the same, but your health would be lower.)

    2) Getting your calories from more filling sources (like a few egg whites with a bowl of oatmeal) can make you more satisfied on the same number of calories.

    3) Most ice cream places have serving sizes that put your treat at way higher than 200 calories. (Ex: A lot of small blizzards at Dairy Queen are 500-600 calories鈥gain, that鈥檚 for a small.)

When you compound these reasons, it should be clear that ice cream should be reserved as a special treat every once in awhile.

In the end, it鈥檚 up to you though.

EDIT: I just read ProfessorK's answer. Her answer was excellent. If i save the calories to eat ice cream, can i have it everyday without getting fat?
Possibly, but there are two potential problems:

    1. If you eat less during the day so you can load up on ice cream, you will probably be depriving your body of the ';good calories'; it needs. In other words, you won't be getting as many nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, etc.) because you'll be eating less of the good stuff and more ice cream, which has little nutritional value. This can lead to lack of energy and just general bad health.

    2. It's not just about calories in versus calories out. If you deny your body the things it needs, you cannot count on it to burn calories at a normal rate. You cannot expect your body to perform well if you are not fueling it properly, so you still might see too much body fat because your body won't be able to burn off calories in a normal way. Also, the odds are that you won't be able to stick to not eating much during the day, which means that you'll end up eating more, and thus gaining weight.

My advice would be to either find a substitute for regular ice cream (low-cal versions of ice cream, frozen yogurt, etc.) or else allow yourself just a tiny bit of ice cream each day.
Calories in vs. calories out are what control weight gain and loss. Eating the same amount each day won't make you gain weight as long as you are taking into consideration the calories AND fat grams. As someone mentioned the Skinny Cow brand is good and the ice cream sandwiches have 4 grams of fiber and only 150 calories which isn't a bad ratio.
well i use to eat ice cream almost everyday at the end of the school year after dinner as a little snack and i didnt gain any weight, but i dont drink milk anymore so i found that as a way to get my calcuim and milk intake for the day.i would eat edys icecream.the key is to not eat to much 2-3 and a half scoops only.and no you wont get fat, most people eat icecream or some other dessert before bedtime.
Well depends on the icecream and the amount you eat. If you eat say 1/4 of a cup then no. But if you eat 1/4 of a cup of say Ben and Jerrys New York Super Fudge Chunck then it will prob show. Frozen yogurt is good and so is sherbert. Try the Skinny Cow brand things, they are 100cal. Now if you starve yourself and eat just icecream then yes you will gain weight.

How long do you leave cucumber or hemroid cream on your eyes when trying to get rid of the bags underneat?

some one told me the the hemroids is what models use...so yhaHow long do you leave cucumber or hemroid cream on your eyes when trying to get rid of the bags underneat?
Yeah, they do (some use the cream). I only use cucumber though. The cucumbers are supposed to be in the refrigerator and then you take it out and slice it so the cucumber is fresh and cold.

The vitamins help your skin and the cold cucumber keeps the swelling down. Once the cucumber is warm, take it off. Maybe a total of 8 minutes or so. You can leave it on longer if you like but once it is warm it isn't helping the swelling anymore. How long do you leave cucumber or hemroid cream on your eyes when trying to get rid of the bags underneat?
    15-20 minutes.
for cucumers, as long as you want but i recomend about 15 minutes, for the cream, maybe 2-5 minutes

How do you make the best scrambled eggs? I like them soft with a little cream.?

Cream Cheese, Cheddar, Salt, and Pepper. How do you make the best scrambled eggs? I like them soft with a little cream.?
The secret to great scrambled eggs is to heat your milk or cream before you add the eggs. I heat my milk...add some butter or margerine and then add the eggs and scramble. Best of luck to you!!!How do you make the best scrambled eggs? I like them soft with a little cream.?
well as soon as i see it starts to bubble alot on the sides i start to eat it, because when it bubbles alot on the sides it gets fryed and krusty.
for 1 person, i use 2 eggs, give them a good ol' whisk add black pepper, whack them in the microwave for 5minutes, then add a few blobs of brown sauce
I like them just after soft with a little butter and milk.
i like scrambled eggs with cheese sprinkled on top, i also add milk to make them fluffy and put it all on an english muffin. yum yum
ok just whisk in a bowl the eggs salt pepper if u want chedder cheese thats really good and a little cream then put them on a skillet whats really good is if u make bacon and then make the eggs in the bacon grease that sounds gross but its good and so put your egg batter in the skiillet and just cook until they are cooked and fluffy
    In the micro, 2 minutes each egg, with cream, salt %26amp; a nob of butter, stir half way through, yummy, yummy!';
hiya i make scrambled eggs in the microwave.i mix up three eggs with quarter cup of milk a pinch of sugar and beat it all up together.i then put it in the microwave for 3 minutes on a high setting, checking it every 60 seconds and giving it a quick whisk with a fork and put it back in to cook until it all light and fluffy .if it looks like it s drying put more milk in and carry on cooking .when it s ready give it one more whisk to seperate it and make it fluffy turn out onto your plate and eat .the beauty of this is you have no sticky pan to clean (always a bonus!!)you could always add cream at the end when it looks like it s drying up.
I cook bacon first. Then take the bacon out of the pan. Clean the pan so there isn't a bunch of grease and grime in the pan. Then put the bacon back in the pan and poor the eggs over it. I use a lot of milk on the eggs too. It takes longer to cook that way and gets a little more of the bacon flavor.
Egg Beaters with low calorie cheese, we add chives, black pepper, and Italian seasoning, with a little extra oregano,......a few months ago I would not haven eaten this but I do now, and We think that it tastes pretty good, I have diabetes and I came up with this, my wife and son both like it this way also,....darn I just got hungry
With a teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
    FLUFFY SCRAMBLED EGGS

    desired amount of eggs

2 tsp. whole milk or cream

thinly sliced white American cheese (if desired)

Butter the pan and heat until the butter melts. Pour egg yolks into a bowl and scramble into a liquid (must be completely yellow). Combine milk or cream with eggs and scramble until mixed.

When the butter is melted in the pan, add eggs and stir.

Stop for 5 seconds and stir again. When you see little scrambled eggs in the pan, add cheese (cut up) and stir until no liquid is in the pan (all scrambled).

    Serve and enjoy.
I like adding so salt and pepper along with cooked onions and diced tomatos. Also hot sauce depending on my mood. Spinach is also god to put in
i like them with milk butter and cheese salt and pepper yummy
with a little milk mixed and some cheese melted into them.
lots of butter, use a wooden spoon, add the eggs and mix. then leave for about 30 seconds, then add some chopped chives, mix again, take off the heat, add a little more butter and salt and pepper, pit on toast. eat enjoy.
Add about a teaspoon of water. That makes them light and fluffy.

Can anyone tell me the name of a cream or prescription drug that can remove blackheads from my nose?

I've heard or those Biore blackhead strips, but I want something that will last for a long time, like at least a month at a time? If anyone can help, I will greatly appreciate it! Thanks! =]]Can anyone tell me the name of a cream or prescription drug that can remove blackheads from my nose?
Keep in mind, medications and prescription creams have SIDE EFFECTS.

And those Biore strips don't work.

You have to have a good skin care regimen and stick to it.

Wash your face with a good cleanser. Believe it or not, an oil based cleanser is excellent for removing blackheads because the oil in the cleanser mixed with the oil in your skin (blackheads are thick, oxidized oil and dead skin cells) and allows it to be removed. Dermalogica makes one, Mac makes one, and so does DHC. You could follow up with a foaming cleanser, or a clay cleanser if you want for an extra clean feeling.

Use an alcohol free toner, maybe even one with lactic, salicylic or glycolic acid. AHAs and BHAs help to dissolve dead cells and surface oils.

Follow up with an oil free moisturizer. If you want, use a clay mask on your nose and/or other oily spots once or twice a week.

Another option is to get a deep cleansing facial once a month. Your skin therapist will exfoliate your skin, and extract the clogged pores. Again, the important thing is taking care of your skin at home though. Can anyone tell me the name of a cream or prescription drug that can remove blackheads from my nose?
    retinamicro
hey, biore also has a heating anti blackhead cleanser. i used it and after watching my face just once, i didnt see any blackheads. however, it works better if you use it every night. good luck!

    OMG!

i know exactlly what you are talking about

i have TONS of blackheads on my nose and my forehead

the way i got them out(well my mom actually got them out)

she used a bobby pin and pushed them out

but the bad thing about that method is that it leaves a little red spot where the blackhead used to be

but it will be cleared up in about a week

and then i used biore nose strips to keep the area clean of dirt so the blackheads wont come back

blackheads are the hardest thing to get rid of but good luck!!
A noxema or Nuetrogena , i dont remember the name but i def. know its one of those, its a scrub and it really works.sorry i dont know the exact brand, but its called Blackhead Scrub and you can buy it at shop rite.

Is there any way to fix a ';broken'; cream sauce?

Try adding more milk and return to simmer...but it depends on just what the problem is...check out this site below:Is there any way to fix a ';broken'; cream sauce?
How to fix a broken sauce

A broken sauce is a sad sight: thin with a grainy appearance. The likely causes are overheating, adding the butter too quickly, or adding too much butter.

If a sauce seems too thick or on the verge of breaking -- you'll see oily butter begin to accumulate on the edge of the sauce -- you can often save it if you act fast. Take the sauce off the heat and slowly whisk in a tablespoon of cold water (some chefs add an ice cube) or heavy cream (which is cold and a great emulsifier besides).

A broken sauce can be saved. Whisk another yolk with a tablespoon of water and then very gradually whisk the broken sauce into the yolk. These scrambled eggs are beyond repair. If you overcook the egg yolks, the sauce is beyond repair. You will have to start over again using lower heat.

If the sauce actually breaks, it can usually be repaired by very slowly beating the warm sauce into a yolk that has first been whisked vigorously with a tablespoon of cold water or heavy cream. (You're basically starting the emulsion process over.) A repaired sauce won't be as light, but it will be acceptable for most uses.Is there any way to fix a ';broken'; cream sauce?

Saying that I can't remember when I used Whipping cream, dairy or non-dairy....
You can use non dairy whipped cream in any recipe calling for whipped cream. It is lighter and thinner than real cream and has a lot less fat in it. Being as it is a non dairy product it breaks down and separates faster.I personally prefer desserts that are made with the real thing.

    Butter cream Frosting recipe?

Which is better to use in a buttercream frosting? Butter or Shortening? or a little bit of both...i want a smooth , not overly sweet frosting that can be piped onto cakes or cupcakes and not wilt. Serious Answers only!Butter cream Frosting recipe?
I just created a tutorial for buttercream icing... complete with pics and recipe...

    http://therepressedpastrychef.blogspot.c鈥?/a>

Hope that helps!!Butter cream Frosting recipe?
Buttercream is a misnomer - professionally used for cake decorating, you would be hard pressed to find one with butter in it!

If you are planning on piping the buttercream - I would highly recommend using all shortening or, at the least, a higher percentage of shortening over butter.

Butter has a lower melting point than shortening, therefore, somthing as simple as the heat of your hands holding the piping bag will cause you grief when piping - and if you do a mix of shortening and butter, you run the risk of your icing separating.

On top of that, you will get a pure white icing using shortening over butter - this is optimal for getting the colour you want when tinting your icing. (Though, if you beat your butter, by itself, for around 10 minutes, it will lighten considerably and not affect the tinting as much.)

You will find that the non-hydrogenated solid vegetable shortenings have the same heat tolerance drawback as butter. That is not to say that you shouldn't use them at all, just be aware that they don't have the exact same properties as shortening.

As horrible as shortening is for you, there is a very good reason why it is used for cake decorating in buttercream. And, I will be the first person to say that all butter icing tastes 100% better!

Consider what and how you are piping (delicacy, pressure needed, temperature of the room you will be working in, length of time the piping bag will be in your hands, etc...) and decide how you want to make your buttercream.

Another thing to think about is that icing isn't necessarily meant to be eaten - it is mainly there for esthetics (and to seal the moisture into the cake). I won't eat hydrogenated fats, let alone those dyed with coal tar derived colourings - and, I recommend the same to anyone I sell a cake decorated in buttercream! Plus, the sweetness of buttercream can ruin the overall flavour of the cake. Put your focus into the taste and texture of the cake and filling and no one will feel the need to eat the icing!

    http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesand鈥?/a>

Wilton has a very good buttercream recipe, appropriate for piping and decorating.
    1 c. (2 sticks) softened butter

    1 tsp. vanilla

    4 c. sifted powdered sugar

    approx. 2 tsp. milk

Cream butter with mixer. Add vanilla %26amp; mix well. Slowly add sugar (1/2 c - 1 c at a time), mixing well between each addition. When all sugar has been added, mix in enough milk to make frosting spreadable consistency.
    Butter!

Is it ok to eat a canned condense cream that was 2-months expired?

    I opened a can of condensed cream from the cabinet today and added 3 spoonfuls to my salad for dessert just an hour ago... I didn't realize it said, ';BEST BEFORE JUNE 2007.';

It's August 9, 2007 today. Did I just eat something I wasn't supposed to?Is it ok to eat a canned condense cream that was 2-months expired?
You probably shouldn't have, but you will most likely be just fine. I've eaten expired foods before on accident. If it is really bad your body will get rid of it.Is it ok to eat a canned condense cream that was 2-months expired?
No, but the supplier will not be responsible if some thing untoward were to take place as a result.
even if some people say it is a mental thing,

i also prefer not to eat stuff after the expiry date..

    there's a reason for it.

and that is also a milk product...so gee, i do not think

    it is ok?

Is there anything I can substitute for sour cream besides plain yogurt, I don't have any of that either?

According to my book Substituting Ingredients by Becky Sue Epstein and Hilary Dole Klein...

For 1 cup of sour cream, you can substitute:

-1 tablespoon white vinegar plus enough milk to make 1 cup; let stand five minutes before using

-1 tablespoon lemon juice plus enough evaporated milk to make 1 cup

-cottage cheese, mixed with yogurt if desired, and 2 tablespoons milk and 1 tablespoon lemon juice; blend well (since you don't have yogurt, leave that out)

-1/3 cup melted butter plus 3/4 cup sour milk for baking

-6 ounces cream cheese plus 3 tablespoons milkIs there anything I can substitute for sour cream besides plain yogurt, I don't have any of that either?

Is it safe to use Canesten 6 Day Cream which is a clotrimazole thrush treatment while breastfeeding?

Only if your dr prescribed it. You will need an antibotic to get ride of thrush. You and the baby will need to be treated as either one of you could be the carrier. Check with your baby's dr or your obyn. They can get you the right stuff to help. good luckIs it safe to use Canesten 6 Day Cream which is a clotrimazole thrush treatment while breastfeeding?
I would imagine that because it's a cream and not a capsule that it's safe as your not digesting it. It's probably the safest way and would be used by many women in your situation but check at the pharmacy if your not sure.

Is there an anecdote for too much progesterone cream?

2 1/2 years ago, I had a doctor that prescribed progesterone cream to me. My levels were at 7. She said this is extremely low and placed me on 160 milligrams of cream everyday of the month. The problem is my stomach looks pregnant. After I had been on the cream for a month, I began to gain weight in my stomach. I went off the cream 3 months later. 2 1/2 years later, my stomach still looks pregnant. My natural waist measurement is that of a pregnant woman in her third trimester. No other doctor knows how to correct the problem. The doctor that prescribed it did not know either. I need help. My clothes do not fit, I feel miserable. I have never nor do I want to be pregnant. Someone please tell me what the cream did to my body to give me this pregnant appearance. Is there an anecdote for too much progesterone cream?
Have you tried an endocrinologist? They deal with hormones.

How do you make low fat or non fat frozen yogurt or ice cream or soy ice cream?

with an ice cream maker? Anyone have any recipes? How do you make low fat or non fat frozen yogurt or ice cream or soy ice cream?
I use Skim Milk Powder. Dont't forget to let milk sit overnight. Use plain Baltic Yogurt. Just plain yogurt

Cheeper, low fat, and it only takes one teaspoon of yogurt to make a cup overnight.

I made some once with a double cooker over fire place. It worked.

But I suggest a yogurt maker. How do you make low fat or non fat frozen yogurt or ice cream or soy ice cream?
I'm not good with the ';cut'; and ';paste'; thing on the computer, so I suggest you go to www.foodtv.com and search their recipes. www.recipesource.com is another good site.
This is the super easiest ice cream recipe- just use lowfat milk for iced milk if you want low fat. I used it when we had goats and had to use up lots of milk.

1 qt of milk -any kind

FYI those hokey 'diets' don't work and you'll end up gaining more weight than you lose. You need to change how you eat and live PERMANENTLY instead of looking for a quick fix.Is it possible to skip the vanilla ice cream on the 3 day diet?
I think vanilla ice cream is a good source of calories in this diet,,,and your body need it when you are in this diet,,think about it.
    Sure

My wife is looking for a GOOD face cream?

My wife is 50 years old, but looks 30!! She is trying to find a good face cream for daily use. She has combination skin, some dry places, some a little oily. Can anyone recommend a good quality face cream that would be good for this type of combination, and sensitive skin?My wife is looking for a GOOD face cream?
For daily use at her age Neutrogena is what I would recommend. they have a daily mosturizer with Alpha hydrocy acid and retnol. It will accelerate the cell turn over and keep balance out the skin PH. I have used it for 8 years now. Its around $12, and will last for 3+ months. This can be used at night. They also have a day Mousse with copper in it which she can wear under the make during the day time. That will promote collagen.

Hopw it works! My wife is looking for a GOOD face cream?
tell her to try beauticontrol products, they are awesome, they even have stuff for men. I love using these products you can find them at beauticontol.com
oil of olay or palmers is gud. i use olay all the time. but palmers is better so now i use palmers
I love Juicy Beauty products there organic and good on sensitive skin and face moisturizer for oily skin
Arbonne is very good. Also, Lancome. They are pricey, but worthy it. And you can get good deals on ebay. Buy the small sizes first, and try them out.
The best is Ponds. They have always worked well, and they are not very expensive. Oil of Olay is also great if you don't mind spending the extra money.
gosh, if she looks 30 for being 50, i should be the one asking her what's her secret? lol..

this is a little expensive, but arbonne international products are awesome, especially for mature skin..

My Dog Licked A Little Bit Of Scabies Cream, What Do I Do?

My 11 month year old shih tzu licked my leg after i applied a little bit of scabies cream, it was not a lot at all. So i was just wondering what i was suppose to do.My Dog Licked A Little Bit Of Scabies Cream, What Do I Do?
Your dog will certainly not get scabies on her tongue! I shouldn't worry too much. Give her a drink and it will flush away.My Dog Licked A Little Bit Of Scabies Cream, What Do I Do?
It should be ok. The scabies cream is a mild pesticide and if you think about it you can put in on the dog without harm, so unless it got a big bunch your dog should be fine.
i think she'll be fine. just keep an eye one her for about a day or two just incase. but im pretty sure shes fine :)
Just keep an eye on her. It probably won't hurt her.

Can you suggest a good spot zapping gel, cream or lotion?

Can anyone suggest a good gel, cream or lotion that is effective at getting rid of spots quickly? Can you suggest a good spot zapping gel, cream or lotion?
Freederm is goodCan you suggest a good spot zapping gel, cream or lotion?
I recommend using a tea tree soap bar twice a day. Then after apply Tea Tree Oil. It is natural and the oil is an antiseptic so it kills germs on your skin. It doesn’t dry out my face or clog pores. I have been using it for a few months and my skin is 100% different. Make sure you use it everyday. You will see results in a week. You can buy it at health stores and one brand I use is “Thursday Plantation”. It is about 15$. I highly recommend this practice. It really works and is good for your skin! :) Good luck
adult acnomel .. it works soo good .. it gets rid of zits the fastest of anything ive ever used .. look at the reviews on the website i left .. most of them are really good
Buy ay gel containing Benzyl peroxide.

    Check de link below...

    Good luck..
Get some Nixoderm on ebay, my God it's the most amazing stuff ever. It's Nigerian and designed for black skins in hot environments. Look it up online and have a read about it. It dries up spots in a matter of hours.
Toothpaste stings like a b***h. Simple face wash is great. Yeah it is directed at women but has no perfume and with regular use is fantastic.
use toothepaste, just da it on your spot. let it dry and then wash it off.

i may sound crazy but it works.

  • Ice cream recipe without ice, rock salt, or a freezer?

Is there an ice cream recipe where you dont have to use 10-20lbs of ice, rock salt, and a freezer? I made something just like this and searched everywhere for it on the internet, in my house, but no luck, plese help?!!?!!?!!Ice cream recipe without ice, rock salt, or a freezer?
you can use any recipe that you have for ice cream but the method would be different.

pour your mixture into a shallow pan and freeze for about an hour.Take it out and mix vigorously to break up ice crystals. Return to freezer and continue with this method until your icecream is too thick to mix any more.

    Thats it.

The texture will still be somewhat crystally since you weren't churning it constantly but it will taste fine.Ice cream recipe without ice, rock salt, or a freezer?
if the temperature outside is below freezing, you can make ice cream outdoors. Don't you have any ice? If you have like one or two trays of ice you can still make something similar to milkshake in a blender.
I don't know how you will make ice cream without a freezer? The only other option is an electronic ice cream maker.

What colour duvet cover do you suggest to go with a mint green walls and cream carpet?

i have a light green cover now which look boringWhat colour duvet cover do you suggest to go with a mint green walls and cream carpet?
The cream part is easy since that is a neutral color. It's the mint green part that is throwing me. I just got all my color swatches out and I think you are going to have to stick with the brown family. I don't mean dark brown. I'm looking at more of a taupe or beige. You can bring the green in by using throw pillows, if you can find some to match your wall color. Good luck! p.s. I love duvets. They are so much easier to wash than a comforter. What colour duvet cover do you suggest to go with a mint green walls and cream carpet?
Chocolate brown. I just bought a great looking duvet cover from Linens N Things. It's suede and washer/dryer friendly. I can't remember the brand name but I bet it would look fabulous with what you're describing. Our walls are sage on the bottom with a cream chair rail and tan on the top.
Navy blue looks good with both cream and mint green. Just make sure you get some green in the bed, like pillows or the bedskirt. If you're a girly girl you can do pink and green. That is not boring at all!
Here are a bunch of comforters. Have fun and good luck!
I would suggest a printed duvet in mint green, cream, wine/ dark red to complement your room.
    Lemon yellow
Brown with mint green throw pillows.
I'd get a flower print, with cream and light green in it.
    White! Pure white!
Dark Green, a shade of purple, or even black.
Hi, a burgandy would look nice
I'd go with a floral of your green and pink/rose, etc. on a cream background.

    Have fun decorating!
    Teal.
    Browns
    light blue
Gold sounds good. maybe with flowers on it too.

What's an easy recipe for homemade ice cream?

    Why food matters

The Best Ice Creams in the World

One of the joys of a fruit garden - and one of the most effective solutions to a fruit glut - is making ice-creams and sorbets. They always have been (and, I suspect, always will be) one of my favourite things in the world. As a die-hard enthusiast of the iced dessert, I have made and eaten a lot of them over the years, and although these days I rarely measure ingredients precisely or follow written recipes I have come to operate according to a set of reliable guidelines that serve me well. Here, then, are a few personal notes on the general business of making ices:

    1. Ice-cream machines are very useful indeed. Top-of-the-range ones can be expensive but I wouldn't be without mine. If you like ice-cream, they will enable you to make stuff that is better than anything you can buy in the shops. The hard graft of making ice-cream without a machine (taking it out of the freezer several times to whisk the partially frozen mixture by hand) is a pretty major disincentive.

    2. Fruit ice-creams have a better flavour and texture if made with a custard or egg mousse base rather than just fruit pur茅e mixed with double cream (my Cheaty Peach Ice-cream is the exception that proves this rule). The mousse base, as described in Vanilla Ice-cream below, is my preferred option.

    3. You need to bear in mind that flavours are muted at low temperatures. Mixes for sorbets and ice-creams should therefore, in their unfrozen state, taste a little too sweet, a little too sharp, and a little too fruity (if that's possible). By the same token, chocolate ice-creams should be very chocolatey and coffee ones very coffeey. Once you have appreciated this principle, it becomes easy to improvise ice-creams and sorbets with almost any flavour that comes to hand.

    4. Bear in mind that some fruits are much stronger flavoured than others. Blackcurrants, for example, are extremely intense, and only a little blackcurrant pur茅e is needed to transform a mousse and cream mixture into strongly flavoured ice-cream. With strawberries, by contrast, much more pur茅e will be needed.

    5. Avoid metal spoons, sieves and bowls when using very acidic fruits such as raspberries and redcurrants. They can discolour the fruit and spoil the flavour.

    6. Fruits that are unpalatable raw, such as blackcurrants, gooseberries, rhubarb, damsons and other sour plums, will need to be cooked before being made into ice-cream. Cool and sieve the cooked fruit compote before adding it to the mousse base for ice-cream or sweetening it for a sorbet.

Icing sugar is a very useful ingredient for instantly adjusting the sweetness of your mix. Lemon juice is equally handy for adjusting the acidity.

If you don't have a machine, an easy way to make sorbets is to freeze your sweetened fruit pulp in a tray until solid, then scratch it up into frosty shards with a strong fork just before serving. This is what Italians call a granita. The texture is a little crunchier than a sorbet, but still wonderful.

These guidelines should help the budding ice enthusiast to improvise all kinds of delights. Meanwhile, here are my top tried and trusted ices, with accurate quantities for infallible reproduction.

    Best Ever Vanilla Ice-cream

Made with the best eggs, the best cream and a real vanilla pod, this should be one of the best vanilla ice-creams you'll ever taste. I like it on its own, or with just a few fresh raspberries.

Without the vanilla, this is the mousse base I use for most of my fruit ice-creams.

    Makes 1 litre

    500ml double cream

    1 vanilla pod, split lengthways

    100g caster sugar

    150ml water

    4 large egg yolks

Scald the cream (i. e. bring it almost to boiling point, then remove from the heat) and add the vanilla pod. Leave to infuse until the cream is completely cool. Scrape out the tiny seeds from the pod and leave them in the cream.

Over a low heat, dissolve the sugar in the water, then turn up the heat and boil rapidly to get a light syrup (it's ready when a little dropped on to a cold plate forms a thread when stretched between finger and thumb). Leave the syrup to cool for just a minute. Place the egg yolks in a basin and begin whisking (ideally with an electric whisk), trickling in the hot syrup as you go. Continue whisking until the mixture is thick and mousse-like, then whisk in the cream. Pour the mixture into an ice-cream machine and churn until frozen.

    Gooseberry and Elderflower Ice-cream

    Makes about 1.5 litres

    1kg gooseberries

    4-5 elderflower heads

    about 125g icing sugar

1 quantity of Vanilla Ice-cream mixture (see above), made without the vanilla pod (there is no need to scald the cream)

Gently stew the gooseberries and elderflower heads with a couple of tablespoons of water until soft and pulpy. Rub them through a nylon sieve to remove the elderflower bits and gooseberry skin and pips. Stir the icing sugar into the resulting pur茅e.

Stir the sweetened gooseberry pur茅e into the ice-cream mix until thoroughly blended. Check for sweetness, adding a little more icing sugar if it is very tart, then freeze in your ice-cream machine. Serve with shortbread fingers

    Blackcurrant Double-ripple Ice-cream

Blackcurrants are so intensely flavoured that you don't need much of their pur茅e to flavour an ice-cream. This recipe keeps the pur茅e very tart and sharp. Half of it is used to flavour a classic, custard-based ice-cream, while the other half makes ripples of very intense, concentrated fruit pur茅e. It's a tantalising, sherbety, sweet-and-sour effect.

    Makes about 1.5 litres

    600g blackcurrants

    175g caster sugar

    250ml whole milk

    500ml double cream

    4 egg yolks

Place the blackcurrants in a saucepan with a dribble of water to get them started and 50g of the caster sugar. Stir over a low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, until the blackcurrants are completely soft and the juices have run. Rub the mixture through a sieve into a bowl and chill.

Put the milk and half the cream in a pan and scald until almost boiling. Mix the egg yolks with the remaining caster sugar, then pour the hot milk and cream on to them, whisking all the time. Return this custard to the pan and stir constantly over a very gentle heat until it starts to thicken. Take off the heat and keep stirring as it cools and thickens further.

Combine the custard with half the blackcurrant pur茅e, mixing thoroughly. Lightly whip the remaining double cream and fold it in. Taste the mixture and add more sugar if you think it needs it.

Now either pour the mixture into an ice-cream machine and churn until nearly frozen or freeze-churn the old-fashioned way by putting the mixing bowl in the freezer and removing every hour or so to whisk up and emulsify the half-frozen mixture. Whichever route you choose, when the ice-cream is thick enough to hold its shape but soft enough to work a little, spread it in a large mixing basin and make several channels, grooves and holes in it. Into these, drizzle little pools of the remaining blackcurrant pur茅e. Cut and turn the mixture a few times to spread these ripples around, but don't overdo it, or they'll get too mixed up with the ice-cream. The aim is to create a contrast of both colour and taste.

Pack into tubs and freeze. Leave at room temperature for a good half an hour before serving. Serve with shortbread or other sweet biscuits.

    Cheaty Peach Ice-cream

I use fresh seasonal fruit for all my ice-creams - except this one! It's the easiest ice-cream you'll ever make.

    Makes about 1 litre

1 large (800g) tin of peaches in syrup 500ml double cream

Empty the contents of the can into a liquidiser and blend until smooth. Stir in the cream. Pour into your ice-cream machine and churn until frozen.

    Italian-style Strawberry Water-ice (or Granita)

Sweet, tart and fruity, this is a real gelato, like the kind you get in the best Italian ice-cream parlours. Ideally it should be made in an ice-cream machine. However, if you don't have one, make a granita by freezing your sweetened fruit pulp solid in a tray and then scratching it up with a strong fork just before serving.

    Makes about 1 litre

    1kg strawberries

100ml lemon juice (about 2 large lemons)

    about 250g icing sugar

Crush the strawberries and rub them through a nylon sieve to extract the seeds. Stir in the lemon juice, then whisk in the icing sugar to taste; the mix should be a little too sweet and a little too sharp, to allow for the fact that both tastes will be muted slightly when it is frozen. Pour into your ice-cream machine and churn until frozen. Or, to make a granita, pour the pur茅e into a tray or large Tupperware tub, ideally so it is no deeper than about 4cm, so it will freeze quickly. Put in the freezer until solid. Defrost for about half an hour before serving, then use a robust fork to scrape up the surface of the frozen fruit, piling the frosty shards into glasses. Serve quickly, before it has time to melt.

    Variation: Snow-capped granite

Granitas are excellent served with a spoonful of double cream poured over the top - especially if the cream is ever so slightly sweetened with a little icing sugar. The granita must be cold enough to freeze the cream into a solid 'snow cap'.

    Raspberry and Redcurrant Sorbet

A fantastically tart and refreshing combination, which I like to serve alongside the strawberry ice, above. Moving from one to the other, then back again, trying to work out which of the two is more delicious, is my idea of sorbet heaven.

    Makes about 1 litre

    500g raspberries

    500g redcurrants

    250g icing sugar

Crush the fruit and rub it through a nylon sieve to extract the seeds. Stir the icing sugar into the fruit pur茅e. Pour it into your ice-cream machine and churn until frozen (or make granita style, as described above).

    Apple Sorbet with Calvados

Apples are normally associated with warm, wintry puddings, but we shouldn't forget their amazing ability to refresh as well as comfort. In early October, when most of the apples are still fairly tart and, with a bit of luck, there's still the odd sunny day to enjoy, I like to make an incredibly simple apple sorbet with freshly pressed apple juice. The old varieties of eating apple, such as Ashmead's Kernel, James Grieve, Egremont Russet and Orleans Reinette, give the best, most complex flavour. They can be combined with Bramley or early, underripe Cox's for added tartness. You can, at a pinch, use bottled juice, but only of a very high quality. Locally produced juice from good English apple varieties is often found at farm shops and farmer's markets. Avoid juices made from concentrate.

    Makes about 1 litre

up to 2kg apples (enough to give a good litre of juice)

    up to 50g icing sugar

    a squeeze of lemon juice

    Calvados, to serve

Juice the apples. A centrifugal juice extractor is a useful item here, but you can make fresh juice by finely grating the apples, then squeezing them in a strong cotton cloth.

Whisk the icing sugar into the apple juice until you get the right balance of sweetness and acidity. A squeeze of lemon juice can be used to restore the balance of acidity, especially if using a very sweet dessert variety (ripe Egremont Russets, for example).

Pour the juice into your ice-cream machine and churn until frozen (or make granita style, as described above). Either serve straight away or pack into tubs and freeze - in which case, leave for 1/2-1 hour at room temperature before serving. Serve in glasses, with 2 teaspoons of Calvados drizzled over each serving. What's an easy recipe for homemade ice cream?

  • What can i use for keeping head bald with a non shave cream?

Does anybody use Nair for their head?

    If so does it burn?

If not what non shaving hair removal for heads can I use? What can i use for keeping head bald with a non shave cream?
I wouldn't use Nair on your head..it can burn and also leak down your head into places you don't want it to...

either shave you head or let your hair grow...(there is no non shaving hair removal for heads.)What can i use for keeping head bald with a non shave cream?
Well usually I see questions asking for hair growth so this is different. I did look up some things that I hope will help you. It says it removes from the sensitive spots so I would think if you can use it there you can use it on your head. It is suppose to last up to 4 months. Other than that I would think about looking into laser removal. I will attach the website so you can look for yourself. Good luck %26amp; God bless you. :)
get a facial hair trimmer.. it will probably leave a little stubble on top.. but i hardly ever get bumps.. i dont have to deal with buying new razors... creams.. etc.. mine is also wireless.. so i jump in the shower.. shave every other day.. clean up is easy.. if you do buy one... try to get one with the widest razor head.. cause some trimmers are half an inch wide.. and will take for ever to shave head.. and some trimmers are powerful enough to shave head.. even when you have inches of growth.. once i let my hair grow out around 6 inches. and my trimmer did fine.. it has a power boost button.. just make sure you get a good charge if its a wireless
If you use Nair, try it on a small portion of your head first. Sometimes, it makes people break out with a razor burn looking rash. A lot of people are allergic to it, so if it looks worse than a razor burn, don't use it.

Nair works wonders. The only down side, is that it smells like burnt hair, when using it.
