Homemade Ice Cream in minutes - Enjoy!Can you make homemade ice cream without a ice cream maker?
yes, but the ice-cream maker just makes it easier.

you need ice, salt, and a LOT of stirring~

well, in addition to the ingredients, of course.

Our great-great grandparents didnt' have any such thing as an ice cream maker, come on!!!!Can you make homemade ice cream without a ice cream maker?
yes. I've done it before. When i did it, I had mixed all ingredients except vanilla and whipping cream. once all ingredients were cold in the refrigerator i added the whipping cream and vanilla, then put it in the freezer. Once in the freezer you leave it a lone until the edges start hardening. after that point you just have to keep stirring until it's to the desired hardness.

Homemade Ice Cream in a Ziplock Bag

INGREDIENTS:

* 1/2 cup milk

* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

* 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)

* 6 tablespoons salt

PREPARATION:

Put milk, vanilla and sugar into a pint or quart-sized freezer bag. Seal well.

Fill a large, gallon-sized freezer bag with ice. Add the salt. (We used rock salt.)

Put the smaller bag into the larger bag and seal.

Shake and mix until the ice cream thickens, about 10 minutes.

You can also let the kids gently throw the bag back and forth to help mix the ice cream. The bag gets very cold, so you might want to use towels to hold it.

Makes 1 serving.
