Does storing cottage cheese or sour cream upside down retard spoilage?

A friend told me that she did this, and after months of being upside down in the refrigerator, her cottage cheese is still good. If this is true, why does it work?Does storing cottage cheese or sour cream upside down retard spoilage?
Storing upside down will have no effect on spoilage. But a lot of people open old cottage cream or sour cream and see liquid on top and think it has spoiled. when you store it upside down, the liquid will be at the bottom and thus not visible when you open the container. Maybe this is what your friend is experiencing. It is just separated liquid, not spoilage, and can be mixed back into your cottage cheese or sour cream.Does storing cottage cheese or sour cream upside down retard spoilage?
No.

The air inside the package that is now at the bottom is just as likely to cause spoiling. Here's the great difference, you might not see the mold until you get to the bottom. It'd be just like that fruit on the bottom yogurt, yum.

If it did work, wouldn't stores store it that way? A better shelf life on dairy would be the grocery store's best friend.
