NO this is not a troll question. I'm not sure how you make home made ice cream, but if I could make some with my breast milk, I think my LO would like it. Anyone else tried or thought about this?Could I make breast milk ice cream and feed it to my baby?
I wouldn't do ice cream but you can make momsicles!!
I found it on kellymom.com and my daughter loved it.
Take those dollar store popsicle makers and fill em with breastmilk. Amazing in the summer :)Could I make breast milk ice cream and feed it to my baby?
I have made blueberry-breastmilk ice cream, but wouldn't recommend blueberries until she's old enough for food.
After pumping the milk, let it separate. Skim off the fatty part, and add enough of the thin to make it like a heavy cream. (I'd freeze the rest in ice cube trays with popsicle sticks!) If you're adding blueberries (or any type of fruit I suppose) mash them in. I never made enough to use my big ice cream maker, but I had a little hand twisty one I used. I'd imagine you could just freeze it in a regular tupperware, and give it a good stir every 15 minutes or so.
My daughter really loved it, although I haven't made it in a long time, since I only pumped to donate, and there isn't much demand for donated toddler milk.
If you want to, go for it!! You can also make yogurt. :) I haven't done it since I didn't really pump, being a SAHM. And I am a horrible hand-expresser.
Have fun though!
**Regular ice cream has sugar, but breast milk is so sweet I don't think it needs anything. :) It can be like a frozen yogurt or slushy.
She is too young for anything but breast milk. Ice cream has sugar, vanilla, salt. She doesn't need any of these ingredients until she is over 6 months.
Breast milk does not have the same kind of solids as dairy........nice idea though, although 9 wks is too early for the other ingredients anyway.
are you joking? you might want to spend just a little time away from the baby. please
I serve it all the time at my house.
Wow I have heard some strange things on this website, this may be one of the strangest! LOL
